On June 11th, DRASS had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from Dongil Shipyard led by President Sung Tae KIM.
The visit presented the opportunity for the signing of two significant agreements, namely the partnership agreement for the future submarine rescue ship ASR-II vessel 2 and the distribution agreement for the spare parts made by DRASS in the Korean territory. The collaboration on this new sister vessel comes on the heels of last year’s contract completion by DRASS, with same local partner Dongil, for the Republic of Korea’s Navy submarine rescue ship with 26-man (17 rescue, 9 diver) 300 msw rated saturation system, ASR-II vessel 1.
For over 30 years now, DRASS continues its trusted partnership as exclusive Italian supplier to the Korean Government, in this competitive market, for all its military diving and submarine rescue requirements – from design, manufacture, and installation through to commissioning. Previous contracts include the successful delivery of Korean Navy (ROKN) rescue ship ATS-2 in 2016, prior deliveries to Korean Navy for rescue ships ATS-1 and ASR-21, and Korea’s Military Maritime Police for ASR58 ship.
DRASS scope of supply in Korea is not limited to the defence sector but includes DRASS deep diving saturation systems, outfitted by Korean shipyards Hyundai and Hanjin, for the offshore commercial industry onboard Subsea7’s Seven Kestrel, and Boskalis’ Boka Atlantis and Boka Da Vinci vessels.
DRASS thanks President S.T. Kim for this special visit and renewed partnership.
